The AGM timeline

The AGM must be held within six months of your financial year end, and Trustees won't take a date outside that. The AGM year page sets out Scouts' own preparation timeline as dated steps:

  • around the year end: the date agreed and shared, and the accounts planned;
  • two to four months before: terms reviewed, open selection agreed and run, the report written and the examined accounts approved;
  • a month before: the invitation to the whole Scout Council, with the agenda, last year's minutes, the constitution and the report and accounts;
  • afterwards: the signed report and accounts to your District Treasurer (or, for a District, the County Treasurer) within 14 days, a District's County Scout Council representatives named, the annual return if you're registered, new trustees inducted and the minutes approved.

Until you set an AGM date, the steps count back from the deadline. Tick each step as it's done. Ticking AGM held closes the year and moves on to the next one.
